Max was extremely excited for the masquerade. It was exciting, getting to get all dressed up and dance the night away with pretty girls and all of his friends. It was his kind of night, fun and filled with lively people and equally lively music. Parties were something he adored with every fiber of his being and it was becoming extremely exciting as he stood awaiting entrance to the gala. He was bouncing from foot-to-foot as he waited, scouring the crowds before the doors opened for people he knew and loved.
Someone jostled him and he looked over his shoulder, grinning at them. "Hi, Tommy!" Max called, shouting over the talkative crowd that stood before the large doors. It was mostly filled with 4th and 5th years, the younger crowd in the area who had either never been to the party or been there only once before. The older kids tended to come in fashionably late in large, sweeping motions. They truly reigned supreme. The floppy-haired brunette bounced alongside Max.
Tommy bumped Max gently with his shoulder, laughing like a hyena. "You ready to dance the night away?!" Tommy asked, causing Max to nod enthusiastically. It was going to be a lot of fun. Max opened his mouth to respond verbally when he was distracted by a soft voice clearing it's throat. The crowd grew faint as they turned. One of the house elves was standing on a pedestal. Max grinned, loving that the house elves were gaining a bit more power under Headmaster Grayson's leadership. The house elf waved sheepishly and squeaked something inaudibly, but he didn't need to say anything. The doors opened slowly as the house elf bowed low, and the chatter started back up.
Max followed the crowd into the Great Hall, marveling at the gorgeous Valentine's Day decorations. Tommy bounced along beside him, staring in awe. He was a 4th year, so this was all new to him. He looked up at Max, grinning widely. "I'm gonna go find someone to dance. I'll see ya later, Max!" he said before bounding away. Max leaned against the wall, drinking it all in with a big, silly grin on his face.
